FC 26 Ultimate Team Trading Guide: How To Make Coins Without Spending Real Money

2026-06-26·Tips & Tricks

I have not spent a single dollar on FIFA Points in FC 26 and my club is worth about 3 million coins. I'm not some market wizard. I just figured out the patterns and I do the same boring things every week. Here's everything I know.

The Weekly Market Cycle Is Predictable

The FUT transfer market moves on a clock. Once you understand the rhythm, you can buy low and sell high almost automatically.

Sunday evening: Prices are at their lowest. Everyone dumps their Weekend League rewards and Squad Battles rewards onto the market. Supply is highest. Buy on Sunday night. I set aside 200k coins every Sunday to invest.

Thursday evening: Prices peak. Rivals rewards drop Wednesday night into Thursday, and people have coins to spend for Weekend League prep. And the Weekend League preview drops Thursday, which spikes demand for meta players. Sell on Thursday night.

Friday morning: Prices dip again because new promo cards and SBCs drop, shifting demand away from standard cards. Good buying opportunity if you missed Sunday.

One of the weird patterns I noticed: meta gold cards (the 25k-100k range players) follow this cycle most predictably. Icon and hero cards are less predictable because their supply is lower and each one is less liquid.

Method One: Margin Flipping (The Daily Grind)

This is the basic buy low, sell slightly higher method. You find cards that consistently sell for more than their lowest Buy Now and repeat the process.

Pick 5-10 cards in the 5k-30k range. Mid-tier meta golds work best because they have enough volume to buy and sell quickly. Ferland Mendy, Theo Hernandez, Walker, etc. Cards everyone wants.

Learn their price range. Ferland Mendy fluctuates between 12k and 17k depending on the day. Buy at 12k or under, list at 16.5k Buy Now. After the 5% EA tax you make about 3.5k profit per flip. Five flips a day is 17.5k. Over a week that's 120k. It's boring but it's consistent.

Don't try to flip icons or high-end cards unless you really know what you're doing. The margins are bigger but the cards sell slower. If you list an icon for 20k above market and it doesn't sell for three days, you have 500k tied up doing nothing. With golds at least you get your coins back fast.

Method Two: SBC Investing (The Big Payoff)

Squad Building Challenges create demand spikes for specific card types. When an SBC drops that requires, say, a full Brazilian squad, Brazilian cards triple in price for about 2-3 hours before settling down.

The move is to predict what SBCs are coming, not react to them. By the time the SBC drops, prices have already spiked. Too late.

How to predict: Marquee Matchups drop every Thursday and always require specific league/nation combinations based on real-world fixtures. Look at the upcoming weekend's biggest matches. Probably a Marquee Matchup for it. Invest in gold cards from those leagues on Tuesday when they're cheap.

Player SBCs are harder to predict. But there's a pattern: EA releases a big player SBC every Friday at content drop (6pm UK). If the community has been asking for a specific player SBC, the leakers are usually right about 70% of the time. Follow the FutSheriff or similar leakers on Twitter. When they say a certain nation or league SBC is coming, buy discard golds from that nation.

Discard investing specifically: Buy rare golds at 650 coins (discard price). If the SBC requires them, they spike to 1200-1500. If it doesn't, you quick-sell for 640, losing 10 coins per card. Risk is basically zero. I keep about 50 discard golds in my club at all times.

Method Three: The Bronze Pack Method (BPM) Still Works

BPM has existed since FIFA 17 and it still works. Not as well as it used to, but it's still profitable over a large sample size.

Open 400-coin bronze packs. Sell anything that's worth more than 200 coins:

  • Any player from a league that has an active League SBC (check which leagues have SBCs this week)
  • Any player from a popular nation for Marquee Matchups (Brazil, France, England, Spain, Germany, Italy)
  • Squad Fitness cards (sell for 800-1200 on weekends)
  • Rare bronze player fitness cards (sell for 200)
  • Any managers from popular nations (French and Brazilian managers sell for 3000+)

Quick-sell everything else. Store contracts and non-rare fitness in your club.

Over 100 packs, you'll lose coins on about 70% of packs and make big profits on the other 30%. The profit comes from the occasional 3000-coin manager or the bronze player who spikes because of an SBC. I average about 200-300 coins profit per pack over a large sample. Opening 20 packs takes about 10 minutes. 20 x 250 = 5000 coins for 10 minutes of work. Not amazing hourly rate but it's risk-free and you can do it on the companion app while watching TV.

Method Four: Live Content Investing

During promos (Team of the Week, Team of the Season, FUTTIES, etc.), special cards flood the market and regular golds crash. During TOTS especially, 85-rated golds that normally cost 8k drop to 5k because everyone is opening packs.

Buy high-rated fodder during these crashes. 84s, 85s, 86s, 87s. Store them. When a desirable player SBC drops a few weeks later, these cards spike. An 84 that you bought at 1500 during a crash might spike to 3000 when a good SBC drops. Multiplied across 50 cards, that's 75k profit.

The key is patience. Don't sell your fodder the week after you buy it. Wait for the right SBC. Sometimes it takes a month. But the profit is guaranteed because EA always releases high-demand SBCs that require high-rated squads.

Method Five: Chemistry Style & Position Change Arbitrage

This is the method I've made the most coins from and nobody talks about it.

Certain chemistry styles consistently sell for more than others. Shadow and Hunter are the most expensive (usually 3000-5000). But sometimes, cards with Shadow already applied sell for LESS than the raw card plus the chem style price. This happens because people list cards without checking the chem style value.

Search for popular cards (Dembele, Mendy, Walker) with Shadow or Hunter applied. Set max Buy Now to the card's base price PLUS 2000. If Dembele base is 15k and Shadow costs 4k, search Dembele with Shadow for max 17k. If you find one, you just got a free Shadow chem style worth 4k.

Flip side: buy the card at base price, buy Shadow separately, apply it, list the card for base price plus Shadow price plus a 1k convenience markup. Some players will pay extra to not have to buy the chem style separately. It sells. Not instantly, but it sells.

What Not To Do

Don't invest in informs early in the week. Informs are cheapest on Sunday night just like everything else. Buying on Thursday when people are hyped is buying at the peak.

Don't hold cards that are about to go out of packs. If a player is in Team of the Week, their regular gold is out of packs for a week and might rise slightly. But informs have an unlimited supply — EA re-releases them constantly through SBCs and objective rewards. The "limited supply" argument doesn't work.

Don't buy packs with coins. Never. Not 7.5k packs, not 25k promo packs. The expected return is about 40% of what you spend. Buying packs is how you go from 500k coins to zero coins.

Don't invest all your coins in one card. If that card crashes because of a random SBC or a similar card gets a promo version, you lose everything. Diversify across 5-10 different investments.

Don't panic sell. If a card you invested in drops 20%, don't immediately dump it. The market fluctuates. Cards usually recover within a week unless a permanent replacement was released (like a significantly better promo card at the same position).
